English Faculty Lia Purpura Reading at Enoch Pratt Library
September 26, 6:30 PM, Enoch Pratt Library, Baltimore
On Thursday September 26, UMBC English
faculty Lia Purpura will be reading at Enoch Pratt Library in Baltimore, 6:30 PM. Come and hear selections from her new book, All the Fierce
Tethers!
Sarabande Books describes All the Fierce Tethers: “With
fierce intellectual and emotional vulnerability, these essays look hard
at both ruin and radiance, the violence of materialism, and the sacred
nature of sustained perception. Purpura has been a finalist for the
National Book Critics Circle Award, a Guggenheim Fellow, and four time
Pushcart Prize winner."
Purpura's other fall readings include appearances at the “Fall for the
Book Festival” at George Mason University (October 10, 3:00 PM, Johnson
Center third floor) and Visiting Writer at MICA (October 17).
