Nearly every student who came to UMBC took at least one English course, and many have left a legacy through Bartleby or the Retriever. Join us to relive the memories and tour our new department offices on September 17, 2016, from 2:00 to 5:00 PM as part of UMBC's fiftieth anniversary celebration. Sip lemonade and munch on cookies while enjoying short readings and presentations by some of the department's distinguished poets, writers, and scholars. Sally Shivnan, Associate Director of the English Department's Writing and Rhetoric Division, will be reading from her new collection of short fiction, Piranhas & Quicksand & Love.
