Throughout BookFest, we will be raising funds for Friends of the Maryland Library for the Blind and Print Disabled (LBPD), a non-profit that supports the LBPD in its mission to make reading and all library services accessible to Marylanders!
What initiatives will your funds support?
- Purchasing movies with audio descriptions
- Purchasing books written in Braille and print so that sighted and blind parents and children can read together
- Creating digital talking books that blind or print disabled patrons can borrow
- Distributing pre-literacy kits to introduce young children to the joy of reading
- Funding theater and other cultural programs through the LBPD
- Providing books with tactile pictures or objects
- Distributing special players for blind patrons to listen to digital talking books
- So much more!
