Biography


Nicole Pekarske, Lecturer, has taught a variety of courses in the English Department since 2003 and has a special interest in composition and the creative process. A widely published poet, her work can be found in the journals Poetry, Georgia Review, and Iand has been featured more than once by Poetry Daily. Her collection, Intermissa, Venus, was published by Cherry Grove/WordTech in 2004.

She has won writing/art residencies in Iceland and in Taos, New Mexico, and in 2009 she was awarded a grant from the Maryland State Arts Council. Her writing has been praised for its unflinching analysis, haunting music, and subversive wit.
